Purple Passion Sweeps Maryland
What else is there to talk about but The Game?
Unless you’ve been living in a cave, or perhaps stuck in an "American Idol" marathon, you may have noticed that Maryland is turning purple. The grass is still green – greener than usual for this time of year in fact – and the water in the Harbor is blue. But houses, cars, stores, and thousands of residents are decked out in purple to honor the Baltimore Ravens as they get ready for Saturday’s division playoff game.
That should be enough to account for the frenzy, but this year there’s an extra bit of spice. To get to the Super Bowl the Ravens have to beat the Indianapolis Colts – and nothing would be sweeter to Baltimoreans than to see Irsay’s team soundly trounced. Not that Crabtown folks hold a grudge or anything. No, not at all.
One word of advice. If you’re among the lucky few thousand with tickets to Saturday’s game, think about bringing earmuffs with you. It will not be that cold…it will be that LOUD. And the roar from Ravens stadium will be heard all the way to Indianapolis.
