Oriole Sightings in Crofton
Oriole stars and the Bird charm fans in Crofton.
If you were in the area of Waugh Chapel Village this past Saturday, you might have seen a very large orange and black bird – the kind with lots of spirit and attitude. The Oriole Bird mascot joined Crofton resident Tom Trebelhorn, O’s third base coach, and pitcher Bruce Chen, to greet fans and sign autographs at the Waugh Chapel Chick-Fil-A. The Capital had a good write-up on the event that brought out young fans and their families.
The Orioles are very active in the community with several events every year in the area. As part of their community outreach, the O’s sponsor the Junior Orioles Dugout Club, the Orioles Summer Reading All-Stars Program, and the Orioles Wives Food Collection for the benefit of the Maryland Food Bank
On this day, the fans took away more than just autographs – the Bird handed out T-shirts, blankets, and even game tickets for Camden Yards. There are lots of good reasons to live in Crofton; meeting your baseball heroes is certainly one of them.
