Business and Community Leaders are Recognized for Their Contributions

People who contribute their time and talents to the community add to all our lives. Last Friday, the Crofton Chamber of Commerce honored business and community leaders who have made a difference.

The event included state and county officials as guests of honor. Senator Janet Greenip, County Councilman Edward Reilly, Clerk of the Circuit Court Bob Duckworth, and U.S. Representative John P. Sarbanes were among those gathered at the Crofton Country Club for the awards banquet.

County Executive John Leopold’s office presented a citation to Town Manager Larry Schweinsburg in honor of Crofton being named one of Money magazine’s 100 Best Places to Live in America 2007.

Among the awards presented were:

Citizen of the Year – Stephan Conyer, for more than 12 years of involvement with children’s activities through the Crofton Athletic Council, Crofton Civic Association and the Parks and Recreation Department.

Teacher of the Year - Sarah Daniels, Four Seasons Elementary School

Police Officer of the Year - Crofton Police Officer Marshall Drecchio

Business Leader of the Year - Glorious Heath, Bayside Title LLC

President’s Appreciation Award - Assistant Chief Steve Race, Arundel Volunteer Fire Department.

As reported in CapitalOnline, Executive Director Judy Wilson, of the Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce, told the honorees, "It is because of you and others like you that the Greater Crofton community continues to be a great place to live and work. You have raised the bar for the rest of us. We are inspired by your actions and leave here tonight ready to go out and make a difference."
